Property Negotiations

Knowing how to respond to a real estate agent’s questions can boost your chances of securing a property for a good price. In this edited extract from his book, Australia’s Home Buying Guide, real estate agent Todd Sloan shares three common questions agents ask and the best way to answer them.

A lot of the time, the first part of getting a great price is knowing that the negotiation has already started. It doesn’t start when you make your first offer – well, at least not if you want a good deal when you’re buying a property.

“Just a short note to thank you and Bruce for your professional and prompt attention to our request for an inspection at Tura Beach and very comprehensive report. I appreciated the fact that Bruce phoned me and offered a further conversation if I wanted after reading the report. As it happens the report was so detailed that I felt that no further explanation was required.”

Don Cave, Sth Coast buyer

When I contacted a number of Building and Pest inspection companies for quotes, I was given a price for both. When I contacted Surety I was given a clear understanding of what I would receive during the inspection and after. Therefore I had a good understanding of what was going to take place.

I gave Surety the go ahead and from there everything was carried out in a very timely manner. The reports were very informative and spelled out all details of what would needed to be repaired and fixed. Bruce carried out the Inspections and gave a very detailed verbal report.

Thank you Surety for your great service.” Phil Grinham, Sth Coast buyer
